MY STORY

Hello and welcome to Sleep On It!

I set up Sleep On It having noticed just how many of my corporate clients were increasingly talking about their challenges in getting a good night’s sleep, and the impact this was having on their performance both at work and at home.

Intrigued, I began to delve into the science of sleep and came across some fascinating books and research articles. My quest for learning took me to many diverse sources and at times I felt totally overwhelmed by this huge topic.

How come we know so little about what we spend 1/3rd of our life doing?

I soon discovered that there is an enormous appetite for understanding sleep better, and a desperate desire to improve our sleep and recovery.

At the peak of my corporate career, I was travelling 80% of the time, and probably jet lagged 20% of the time! Climbing the corporate ladder, pulling the customary all-nighters, smashing targets, juggling priorities and people, all whilst unknowingly compromising my closest relationships and health.

Life lobbed more than its fair share of challenges at me - bereavement, divorce, redundancy, more tragic bereavement, moving house, moving country, moving job, family suicide, breast cancer, seemingly taking them all in my stride with a ‘can do’ bounce back attitude. My relationship with sleep was up and down, marginalised at best, consistently taken for granted. If only I knew then what I know now, maybe I could have/would have made some different, better-informed choices.

So now, inspired by my own unique experiences, armed with new knowledge and insights I have turned my passion, energy and skills into practical ‘how to’ programs. I’m on a mission, helping others prioritise and optimise night-time rest and recovery to enhance daytime performance and productivity.
